Pneumonia Claims Bertha Brehm

Bertha May Brehm, youngest daughter of David and Nancy Brehm, died at the Brehm home on East Main street Sunday and was buried yesterday. She was born in Pennsylvania, June 15, 1882 and came to Astoria with her parents when a child of three years. She was at the time of her death aged 37 years 8 months and 7 days.

She united with the Church of the Brethren, which was the church of her parents, at the age of fifteen years and remained a member until her death, thus having been a member 22 years. She loved the teachings of the church and was glad when she could attend its services. This she often was not able to do because of illness.

During the illness of her father she took pneumonia and after an illness of less than a week she passed away. She leaves to mourn her loss her aged father, who is still unable to be up and around and was not able to be at the funeral. Also one sister, Mrs. David Painter of near Astoria, one brother, J. A. Brehm of Peoria, Ill., and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were conducted from the home by Elders A. H. Lind, and S. S. Blough, burial in the South Fulton cemetery.

During this illness in the Brehm home Mrs. J. A. Brehm and others have faithfully cared for the sick and looked after the needs of the home.
