Billy ArnoldBilly Arnold, 96, of Quincy, formerly of Littleton and Rushville, died at 2:10 a.m. May 30, 2019, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born July 17, 1922, in Chicago, a son of Ira Russell and Mary Moore Arnold. He married Minnie Stivers Dupoy on Dec. 11, 1991, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2008.

He also was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are two stepsons, Charles (and Judy) Dupoy and Gary Dupoy, both of Rushville; two brothers, Chet Arnold of Hettick and Tom Arnold of Gibson, Fla.; one sister, Florence Dunn of East Moline; four step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.

His family lived west of Littleton. He attended Hazel Dell Country School and graduated from Rushville High School in 1942. After World War II broke out, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Aug. 27, 1942. He worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, farmed and operated a salvage business for many years.

He was a member of Littleton United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Robert Kirkham officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Navy Honors Detail.
