She was born Jan. 27, 1934, in Rushville, a daughter of Ernest and Vala Horney Andre.
Surviving are one daughter, Andrea Todd of Flowood; one brother-in-law, Robert “Pete” Fulks of Rushville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Stephens, Eileen Rexroat and Betty Fulks; and two brothers, Robert and Harold Andre.
She received her bachelors degree in Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb and her masters degree in Human Development Counseling from Sangamon State University in Springfield. She taught in the Springfield Public Schools 35 years before retiring, teaching second grade at Dubois School for much of her career.
She was a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church of Springfield. She was a support to her daughter when getting her doctorate in psychology in Springfield, Mo., and moved with her to jobs in Arkansas, Hawaii, South Carolina and Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Randy McGeehon officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
