MAX HAROLD ARNETT

Max H. Arnett, 86, of Table Grove died at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 2, 2009, at the emergency room at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born March 25, 1923, in Lewistown, a son of Marshall and Margaret Wilhelm Arnett. He married Bernita Ames on June 5, 1946, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Lyle (and Dorothy) Arnett of Lewistown and Terry (and Diana) Arnett of Table Grove; one daughter, Cathy (and Mike) Ulmer of Table Grove; three sisters, Frances Vaughn and Nelda Jo Cooper, both of Lewistown and Reta (and Pete) Black of St. David; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis McCormick and Fredia Vaughn; and one brother, Lyle Arnett.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946, attaining the rank of Carpenters Mate, 2C (T).

He was a union carpenter and farmed.

He was a member of Table Grove American Legion Post #413 and Vermont Christian Church.

Services were held Saturday at his church with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Table Grove Rescue Squad or Table Grove American Legion.
