He was born Dec. 14, 1951, in Rushville, the son of Edwin and Lois Peterman Atwater. He married Norma Orr on July 1, 1971, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Lois Atwater of Rushville; one son, Roy Atwater of Rushville; one daughter, Amy (and Chad) Downs of Rushville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He worked at Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown for 20 years and in maintenance at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb for the last 18 years.
Services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
