VeteranR. E. Abernathy Dies At Age 56

Raymond Eugene Abernathy, 56, of Table Grove, died at 12:17 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 13, 1982, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Table Grove, the son of Arthur and Danna (Herdman) (Killion) Abernathy. He married Elsie Smith, May 1, 1948 in Galesburg. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy Abernathy and Lynn Spencer, both of Table Grove; one son, Gregory of Table Grove; five grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Nedra Malott and Mrs. Marjorie Fewkes, both of Table Grove, Mrs. Betty Reynolds of Memphis, Tenn. and Mrs. Ida Lindsey of Industry; and three brothers, Gale of Bardolph and Duane and Dale, both of Table Grove.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a semi-truck driver and sales clerk for Bader and Co. for 23 years. He was a member of the Table Grove American Legion Post 413 and a World War II veteran.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Table Grove Community Church with Rev. Edward Clapp officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery. Military services were conducted.
