Dessie ZingherDessie Jane Zingher, 91, of Mount Sterling, formerly of Rushville, died at 1:19 a.m. Jan. 6, 2019, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Sheldons Grove, a daughter of Lawrence and Eda Smith Rhoades. She married Dr. Henry C. Zingher MD. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Abraham; and her sisters and brothers.

Surviving are three sons, Harry, Joseph and Alex Zingher; three grandchildren, Jessica and Emalee Zingher and Isaiah Zingher; and one great-grandchild.

After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Rushville where she completed her high school education. She received her nursing degree from Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria and her anesthetist degree from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. She was a registered nurse at the Rushville Clinic for Dr. Joseph M. Zingher and his brother, Dr. Henry C. Zingher. She married Dr. Henry and continued at the clinic.

After the birth of her third son, she retired from the clinic to focus on her boys. In the following years, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother. After her four boys had grown she returned to nursing. She practiced nursing primarily as a floor nurse until her eyesight became poor in 2005.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rushville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy McGeehon and Mr. David Haney officiating. Inurnment will be in Sheldons Grove Cemetery following the service. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
