She was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Camden, a daughter of Robert and Hazel Yates Kirkham. She married Gene Young on Jan. 8, 1966, in Cook County. He survives.
Also surviving are one brother, Charles “Bud” (and Jeanie) Kirkham of Camden; and one sister, Joan (and Bill) Boynton of Port Byron.
A 1956 graduate of Rushville High School, she received training through Western Union in Indiana. She worked many years as a telegraph operator for Western Union in Elgin.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Rushville City Cemetery with Reverend Charla Myers officiating. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
