He was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Brooklyn Township, a son of Irvin and Kathleen Morrell Wells. He married Sarah Jane Gillenwater on Sept. 25, 1965, in Rushville.
Surviving are two sons, Monty Wells and Mark (and Randa) Wells; one daughter, Kelly Trone; two brothers, Dennis Wells and Maurice Wells; two sisters, Ruby Rice and Betty Chapman; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Wells and Jimmy Wells; and two sisters, Eileen Rohn and Retha Prather.
He was a lifelong farmer in Schuyler County and showed Black Angus Cattle.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Dan Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Rushville City Cemetery.
