She was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Rushville, the daughter of Oscar E. “Heavy” and Dorothy Margaret Walker Davis. She married Ron Cates on Nov. 16, 1974, in Rushville. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lori Cates of Tallula; one son, Gordon (and Cheryl) Wells Tallula; one brother, Gordon Mick (and Carol) Walker of Groveland; and two grandchildren.
She graduated from Rushville High School. She was a senior systems analyst for the State of Illinois Department of Human Services for over 30 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Schuyler County Jail Museum and Genealogical Society and Session at Rock Creek Church.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. There will be private burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery and a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Creek Church in Tallula.
