She was born June 16, 1928, in Pottstown, Pa., the daughter of Lyle and Garnet Gowdy Cooper.
Surviving are two children, Skipper (and Judy) Wilson of Fruitland Park and Sue-Ellen (and Steve) Cooper Hendrix of Huntsville; her caregiver, Sabrina; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She grew up in Rahway, N.J., and graduated from Rahway High School and attended Southern Union and Auburn University.
She worked for the City of Auburn, in Auburn, Ala., as the Payroll and Personnel Director and worked on the Mayor’s Planning Council.
She did prison ministry.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at Brooklyn United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery near Camden. The Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
