Dale Wooldridge

Dale WooldridgeDale G. Wooldridge, 82, of Jacksonville died Jan. 9, 2021, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born July 4, 1938, in Hardin, a son of Herman and Dorothy Murray Wooldridge. He married Barbara Ann Scott on Dec. 27, 1959, in Jacksonville. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Terri (and Phil) Benz of Jacksonville, Doug (and Anne Redden) Wooldridge of Vail, Colo., and Jill (and Mark) Evans of Branson, Mo.; one sister, Elinor Vieira of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Steven; two sisters, Wilmeth Kessler and Trenna Mae Sauer; and three brothers, Lyle Wooldridge, Wayne Wooldridge and Donald Wooldridge.

He was a 1957 graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended MacMurray College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

As a building contractor, he built homes and commercial buildings in the Jacksonville area. In addition, he volunteered countless hours to Habitat for Humanity building homes for those in need in the community. He also was a real estate broker and certified appraiser and had served as president of the Jacksonville Board of Realtors.

He was a longtime member of Brooklyn United Methodist Church and served as stirmaster for many of the church’s burgoo fundraisers. He was currently an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

A private funeral ceremony will be live streamed at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The livestream can be viewed at www.airsman-hires.com on the Tribute Wall of Dale’s obituary page. A public graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. The Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
