VeteranLavern “Vern” Weihl

Lavern “Vern” W. Weihl, 85, died Nov. 26, 2019.

He was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Waterloo, a son of Arthur and Lydia Henneke Weihl. He married Maralee A. Skiles on June 26, 1958, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bradley (and Cynthia) Weihl and Barton (and Krista) Weihl; two brothers, Roy (and Evelyn) Weihl and Paul (and Joan) Weihl; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorine (and Elmer) Wuertz and Dorothy (and Harry) Theobald.

He was a 1952 graduate of Waterloo High School. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-57 (Active) and 1957–61 (Reserves) as an interpreter while stationed in Germany.

He was involved in the community. He spent many years as a Boy Scout leader at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard in Hazelwood, Mo. He was employed by McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing for 34 years, retiring in 1993.

A remembrance service was held at Archway Memorial Chapel followed by a burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
