He was born Jan. 1, 1936, in Astoria, a son of Marshall and Eleanor Hamm Ward. He married Ida (Bailey) Ward in 1955. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Cindy Rose (and Bernard) Royer, Randy Allen Ward and Cheryl Lynn (and Marty Smith) Ward; one brother, Wendall Wayne Ward; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Ward; and one sister, Sharon Kay McClosey.
He worked for Caterpillar in security for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He attended Church of the Brethren and was a member of the Odd Fellows in Canton.
A visitation will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.
