Ada WilsonAda L. Wilson, 93, of Canton, formerly of Astoria, died at 12:10 p.m. Sept. 1, 2014, at Farmington Country Manor.

She was born July 10, 1921, in Schuyler County, Illinois, a daughter of Wallace Seely and Esther Viola Green Leezer. She married Harry O. “Vern” Wilson on Nov. 22, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Edward Leezer and Rollin Leezer; and three sisters, Edna Johns Hilst, Helen Wilcoxen and Betty Strong.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna (and Glenn) Gearing of Macomb and Beverly (and Dale) Richardson of Bartonville; one brother, Richard (and Caroline) Leezer of Cuba; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She owned and operated Bunny Hop Rabbitry with her husband, where they provided rabbits to Fulton County Fair for eight years. She also would do laundry and help with the family farm. She was the bookkeeper for Wilson’s Lumber Mill in rural Astoria.

She was a member of Spoon River Electric Association.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Cemetery at Astoria with Mark Dohner officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital or Astoria Fire Department.
