DIXIE M. (PIERSON) WATKINS

Dixie Watkins

Dixie M. Watkins, 71, of Astoria died at 7:25 p.m. Aug. 1, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born June 9, 1943, in Pekin, a daughter of Calvin Henry and Catherine Mabel Taylor Pierson. She married John R. Watkins Sr. on Feb. 16, 1960, in Havana. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1976. She then made her home with John Crowe Sr. for over 20 years. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Eric and Robert Watkins; two daughters, Lori and Kimberly Watkins; one sister, Shirley Kelly; and two brothers, Charles Lippert and Wilber Pierson.

She was a waitress at Petticoat Junction in Havana, and worked in housekeeping at Astoria Health Care Center for over 10 years.

A visitation was held Monday. Cremation rites were accorded following visitation. Shawgo Memorial Home of Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
