Edna S. Waters, 90, of Panama City, Fla., died June 10, 2012.

She was born April 3, 1922, in Roark, Ky., the daughter of John Sizemore and Maggie Sizemore.

Surviving are her children, John "Jay" W. (and Maribelle) Waters, Judson D. (and Bonnie) Waters and Colleen Hodges; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Waters.

She served in the Women's Army Corp during World War II.

She was a member of American Legion for 62 years and American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years.

She was the first female American Legion County Commander in the State of Illinois, a lifelong Republican Party Activist serving as Voters' Registrar and Poll Watcher. She assisted in numerous campaigns on County and State levels and was active in civic affairs.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama, Fla. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
