Mary "Peggy" WinnerMary “Peggy” Winner, 81, of Ripley died at 6:57 p.m. Oct. 22, 2010, at her residence.

She was born June 25, 1929, in Rock Island, a daughter of Floyd Thomas and Florence Marguerite Gustafson Travis. She married Waldon Test Winner Sr. on Sept. 21, 1946, in Griggsville. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1991.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Travis; and two sisters, Pearl Eva Alhgren and Helen Marie Travis.

Surviving are two sons, Pastor Waldon T. (and Peggy) Winner Jr. of Williamston, S.C., and Wynn Travis Winner of Pelzer, S.C.; two daughters, Peggy Jo (and David) Dyer of Ripley and Penny Ann (and Daniel) Chevillot of Williamston, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Ripley Church of God where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.

She served as Ripley Village Clerk for over 25 years. She was a life-long homemaker and worked as office manager for Shaw Chiropractic Clinic in Mount Sterling for 15 years and was a data entry clerk for Illinois Secretary of State for over seven years before retiring.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Pastor Waldon Winner Jr. officiating. Burial was in Ripley Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
