James Wilmot Jr.James “Willie” Wilmot Jr., 72, of Beardstown died at 10:38 a.m. Aug. 1, 2010, at his home.

He was born May 27, 1938, in Rushville, the son of Wade and Mary Armel Wilmot. He first married Connie Rebman on July 1, 1960, in Rushville. He later married Sharon Major Smith on Dec. 26, 1996, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dian (and Bob) Tolles and Dina (and Bradley) Ealy, both of Rushville; one stepson, Jeff (and Lynn) Smith of Beardstown; three stepdaughters, Melody Forsyth of Rushville and Lori (and Don) King and Melissa (and Alvin) Winner, both of Beardstown; two sisters, Nancy Ellen Mulligan of Beardstown and Sally Poltawsky of Rushville; three grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Miller and infant Mary Marie Wilmot.

He served in the U.S. Navy from June 13, 1956, to May 3, 1960.

He was a 1956 graduate of Rushville High School.

Before and just after his service in the military he was a truck driver for Mickleberry’s in Rushville. He later worked as a lineman for CIPS in Beardstown for 40 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of IBEW Local #702, lifetime member of Schuyler County Fair Board and a member of “Old Pharts Touring Society.”

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Mike Courson officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Burial Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
