D. Harrison White, 87, of Lewistown, died at 1:43 a.m. Oct. 29, 2006, at Havana Healthcare Center.

He was born May 11, 1919, in Palmyra, Mo., a son of D.W. and Ethl Emery White. He married Gwendolyn Graham on June 16, 1946, in rural Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael of Tempe, Ariz., and Patrick of Lewistown; and one brother, Marvin (and Jane) of Palmyra, Mo.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific.

He was a member of Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown.

He was a graduate of Culver-Stockton College and Illinois Wesleyan University. He was a physics, chemistry and math teacher, having taught at Canton Community College and several high schools in the area, last teaching at Havana Community High School. He also was a livestock farmer in Fulton County, retiring in 1997.

Graveside services were held Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Rev. Ray Greenfield officiating. Military rites were accorded by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or the National Parkinson Association.
