Truman Whitehead

Truman Jack Whitehead, 78, of Lewistown died at 5:45 a.m. Aug. 17, 2006, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born July 26, 1928, in Canton, a son of Howard J. and Kathryn Jump Whitehead. He married Ina M. Berkley on Nov. 23, 1951, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Rev. Diann (and John) O'Bryant of Franklin, Ohio, Ellen (and Clifton) Cline of Browerville, Minn., Teresa (and Mark) Atchley and Caryl (and Clay) Ginglen, both of Lewistown; two sons, T. Jay of Lewistown and Dennis A. (and Lori) of Decatur; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

He worked for Caterpillar at the Mossville plant as a lab technician for 44 years.

He was a member of Covenant Community Fellowship Church in Canton, where he served as usher, deacon and on the finance committee. He had served on the school board for Lewistown Grade School and had been a Fulton County precinct committeeman. He served as secretary of Lewistown Masonic Lodge AF & AM 104 for 25 years.

Services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Kevin Van Tine officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
