W. Wayne Wheelhouse

W. Wayne Wheelhouse, 87, of Albany, Ga., formerly of Rushville, died at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his daughter's home.

He was born July 5, 1918, in Rushville, the son of Robert Albert and Jenny Belle Rauch Wheelhouse. He married Alice Louise Stephens in June 1942 at St. Louis, Mo. She died Feb. 1, 1968. He later married Virginia Cunningham Redshaw.

Surviving are one daughter, Dr. Nancy (and Dr. Richard) Anson of Albany, Ga.; one son, Dr. Walter "Walt" (and Kim) Wheelhouse of Cookeville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

He worked for Kimberly Clark Corp. in research and development. He worked for 20 years as a plant manager in the paper industry for the Alton Box Co. in Minneapolis, Minn., Freeport, Calif., and Cedartown, Ga. He earned an MBA in 1967 from the Terry College at the University of Georgia, where he was a consultant and faculty member. He was a professor of business at the University of Illinois before returning to his family farm to farm in 1970.

He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Rushville Masonic Lodge #9, where he was a 32nd degree Mason.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rushville.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Robert Belew officiating. Interment was at Astoria Memorial Mausoleum of the Astoria Cemetery.
