Oliver L. Ward, 68, of Vermont, died at 11:46 p.m. Monday, July 19, 1999, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

He was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Vermont, a son of Otto and Gladys Leighty Ward. He married Nancy Bohm Stambaugh on Oct. 27, 1963, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Eldon Stambaugh of Macomb, Craig (Mary) Stambaugh of Palm City, Fla., and Brad (Jodi) Ward of Florissant, Mo.; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Christy) Miller of Montrose, Colo.; one brother, Russell of Wheaton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ward, who was killed in the D-Day invasion of France.

An Army veteran, he was a member of Carroll-Rankin American Legion Post 26.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, he worked at Vermont State Bank for 42 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a trustee of the Vermont Fire Protection District.

He was a member and elder of Vermont Christian Church, where services were held Saturday with Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Kost Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
