Louis “Lee” Wallace, 76, of Rushville died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Sept. 5, 1921, in Littleton, the son of Frank C. and Edith Mae Wilmot Wallace. He married Marie Baxter on Feb. 14, 1948, in Mount Carroll. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Stan Wallace and Steve Wallace, both of Rushville, and Stacy Wallace of Aurora; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Lee Wallace.

He was an education administrator for 34 years. He was purchasing agent for Culbertson Memorial Hospital for two years until he retired. He then worked at Scripps Park Golf Course Pro Shop for 11 years. He and his wife also owned and operated the Green Gables Motel in Rushville for 24 years.

He received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and education certificate from Western Illinois University. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa.

He was a member of the Rushville Area Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Rushville Rotary Club.

He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Scripps Park Golf Course or Schuyler County Youth Center.
