Kenneth Wheat

Kenneth H. Wheat, 33, of Troy, formerly of San Jose, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 1997, at Arch Air Medical Service in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 8, 1964, in Springfield, a son of David and Linda Robertson Wheat.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, David and Carol Wheat of Manito; his mother, Linda Wegener of Higginsville, Mo.; two brothers, Kevin of Topeka and Mike of Havana; four stepbrothers, Brian Clark of Astoria, Steve Clark of Lakeville, Minn., Eric Clark of St. Louis and Christopher Stilz of Havana; three stepsisters, Cindy Meeker of Forest City, Karen Clark of San Jose and Jennifer Lockart of Peoria; his grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Robertson of Mason City and Mary Wheat of San Jose; and his stepgrandparents, Wilfred and Arline Kastner of Milwaukee.

A 1991 graduate of St. John’s Hospital College of Nursing in Springfield, he worked in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for two years. He last worked as a flight nurse/paramedic for Arch Air Medical Service in St. Louis. He was a former volunteer fireman for the San Jose Fire Department. He was a counselor at the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

Services were held this morning at San Jose Christian Church with Rev. Allen Payne officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose. Maas Funeral Home in Manito was in charge of arrangement.

Memorials may be made to the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois or to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
