ELAINE G. (HUFF) WOODDELL

Elaine Wooddell

Elaine G. Wooddell, 67, of Monmouth, died at 10:05 a.m. Friday, June 28, 1996, at Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth.

She was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Lewistown, a daughter of James H. and Eathel Richardson Huff. She married Ross Wooddell in 1947 in Petersburg. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one half sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Joyce Kirby of Monmouth; one son, Wayne L. Wooddell of Monmouth; three grandchildren Rick and JoElla Wooddell of Monmouth and Brian Sullivan of Aledo; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Genevieve Simpson of Spring, Texas and Irene Quigley of Monmouth; two half brothers, James Huff and Raymond Huff, both of Peoria; one half sister, Mary Alexander of Canton; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She worked for 20 years at the former Wilson Plant in Monmouth. She then entered nurses training at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. Following her training, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Pinewood Care Center and later at Monmouth Nursing Home for a number of years. She retired in 1994. She was a member of the Ipava American Legion and the Monmouth VFW Auxiliaries. Her interests included furniture refinishing and reupholstery, gardening and sewing. She attended Canton High School.

Funeral services were held Monday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth with Rev. Warren Cummins officiating. Cremation rites were accorded.
