Ethel N. Watts Dies In Arizona

Ethel N. Watts, a teacher at Ipava High School during the 1930’s, died Aug. 8, 1990, in Sun City, Ariz., where she had made her home for the last 15 years. She was formerly of Morris.

She was born near Hanover, Ind., a daughter of Henry and Mae Fewell Watts.

Surviving is one niece, Eleanor Watts Moyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

She was on staff at Morris Community High School from 1944 to 1965 as a teacher and guidance counselor, and was on the founding committee for Special Education in the county.

After retirement from the high school, she served as district superintendent at Nettle Creek School, and was head of the curriculum committee at Joliet Junior College.

While in Morris, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and the American Heart Association. She also spent many hours recording textbooks onto audio-tape as an aid to the blind.

After moving to Arizona, she was on the board at Dysart Community Center Auxiliary, and did volunteer work at Glendale Community College.

Memorial services will be held in Sun City at a later date.
