Justin A. Wilton Dies At Age 74

Rev. Justin Andrews Wilton, 74, of Columbus, Kans., formerly of Ipava, died April 18, 1990, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, the former Erma Lorena McGuirk; daughters and their husbands, Justina and Garry Schultz of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Cora Linn and Beryl Foglesong of North Platte, Neb., Kathy and Paul Harding of Blandinsville, and Zada Wilton of Columbia, Mo.; sons and their wives, Mark and Ikuko Wilton of Tacoma, Wash., and Charles and Connie Wilton of LaHarpe; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, one son and two brothers.

Rev. Wilton served over 40 years in the ministry. He served as minister of the Ipava Christian Church from 1970 to 1974. He and his wife had resided in Columbus, Kans. since 1985 following his retirement from his ministry with the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Kansas, Illinois and Missouri.

Rev. Wilton was honored by the Christian Churches, Disciples of Christ of Kansas, the U.S. and Canada as the Rural Town and Country Minister of the Year in 1964 while ministering in Lebanon, Kans.

Burial was on April 20 at the Park Cemetery at Columbus, Kans.

A memorial has been established in his name at the First Christian Church, Columbus, Kans. 66725.
