Florence Walthers Dies In Hospital

Florence B. Walthers, of Macomb, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 1990, in the emergency room at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born in Table Grove, a daughter of Lee and Edna Heaton Fawcett. She married Wendell Gaites. He died in 1948. She later married Theodore “Ted” Walthers on July 4, 1970, in Bushnell. He died on March 13, 1989.

She also was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and two half-brothers.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Leola Russler of Bushnell and Mrs. Nell Bailey of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Robert Fawcett of Long Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

A retired photographer, she had owned and operated the Gaites Studio in Macomb for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1422 and the Eagles Auxiliary, both in Bushnell. She also was a member of the Aerie Lodge No. 3698 in Macomb.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, with Rev. Alan Newhall officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the McDonough District Hospital or the McDonough County Heart Association.
