LOIS M. (HOYT) WIER

Lois M. Wier Of Abingdon Dies

Lois M. Wier, 80, a resident of the Abingdon area since 1932, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 1990, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

She was born Dec. 29, 1909, in Augusta, a daughter of B. F. and Jennie M. Bottorff Hoyt. She married G. Albert Wier in Galesburg on May 10, 1932. He died Oct. 30, 1980.

One son and two brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Sammy of Galesburg; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Marilyn) Boydstun of rural St. Augustine; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel E. Burton of Browning.

A 1926 graduate of Augusta High School, she attended Western Illinois University and was a teacher in country schools for five years.

She was a member of Abingdon Christian Church, Loyal Workers Club and the Literary Thursday Club. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Larson Funeral Home in Abingdon, with Rev. Charles Witte officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to her church or the American Cancer Society.
