VeteranClair W. Wood Buried Thursday

Clair William Wood, 53, of Lakewood, Calif., formerly of Canton, died Friday, Jan. 9, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Long Beach, Calif., after a long illness.

He was born in Canton Nov. 9, 1916, son of John and Flossie Chenoweth Wood.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry and Gary, both of California, his mother of Lakewood, Calif., and his father of Astoria.

He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the North Long Beach Christian Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Murphy Memorial Home, the Rev. Darrell Harrison officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Clair Wood Dies In California

John W. Wood of Astoria received word of the death of his son, Clair W. Wood. Mr. Wood died Friday evening in California.

Military services were to be held yesterday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Los Angeles. The body will be brought to Canton for burial.
