ROY TRIBBETT

Vermont Miner Killed Monday In Strip Mine

Roy Tribbett of Vermont, met instant death Monday morning when he was caught in a dirt slide while working in a strip coal mine on the Wm. Brock farm southwest of that village. Had Kirkbride and James Fair, who were assisting in the work narrowly escaped with their lives.

The three men were working near a perpendicular bank, said to be eighteen feet high. Suddenly without warning, a huge mass of earth came rolling down upon them. Mr. Tribbett was completely submerged. The other two men were only partly covered and managed to extricate themselves. However, both men received injuries. A wagon under which Fair was thrown, was well covered with dirt. It probably saved his life.

Tribbett leaves a wife and little daughter. An inquest was held at 1:30 Monday afternoon.
