VeteranCharles Walters Dies In Peoria Sunday Night

Charles G. Walters, a former resident of Astoria, died in a Peoria hospital Sunday night following an illness of about six months duration. Death being due to cancer of the lungs. He was aged 41 years, 1 month and 27 days.

The deceased was born Sept. 1, 1889. He was twice married. Besides his wife, he is survived by three brothers, Irvin of Bader, Harry and Jay of Astoria, two sisters, Mrs. John Schisler and Mrs. Abe Kolp, his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Walters, of Astoria.

Mr. Walters was an automobile mechanic and lived in Peoria about eight years. He was a World War veteran, seeing service overseas.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Church of the Brethren, conducted by Rev. E. W. Braun, pastor of the Christian church of Astoria. Interment in Astoria cemetery.

The American Legion had charge of the services.
