SARAH LOUISE WILLIS

Obituary

IPAVA — Sarah Louise, daughter of Frank and Mary Wood Willis, was born at Galesburg, Oct. 21, 1908 and died at Galesburg at the home of her half brother, Bruce Willis, July 5, 1930, aged 21 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Her mother died years ago leaving [film scratched — illegible] too passed away, leaving her in the care of a kindly stepmother who died seven years ago. Many homes were open to Sarah who was ever a lovable child and endeared herself to all who knew her. She made her home with her brother Bruce at Galesburg.

Many happy weeks were spent by Sarah in Ipava with her aunts, the [film scratched — illegible] and a host of sorrowing Ipava friends are mourning her early death. She was a Christian Science devotee and such creed was used until the end. Services by that sect were held for Sarah at Galesburg.

Besides the Misses Wood, Mrs. J. R. Wood and Marshall Wood, also Mrs. H. D. Owens and the Ipava Sorority girls attended the services in Galesburg.

Rev. Nelson Dallenburg of Peoria assisted by Rev. Chas. Doolittle of Elmwood held services here at the grave. Out of town friends and relatives present at the funeral here included Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Willis of Galesburg, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Willis, Mrs. T. J. Gretta, Miss Barbara Sinclair, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shoemaker, Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins [film scratched — illegible], Mrs. Arthur Christopher, Canton; Mrs. Ora Ewan, Harry Miller, Lewistown, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Doolittle, Elmwood.

Sarah Louise Willis

IPAVA — Miss Sarah Louise Willis, aged about 20 years, died at the home of her half brother in Galesburg, Saturday, July 5, following several weeks’ illness of tubercular trouble.

Deceased is an orphan. Her mother was Miss Mary Wood, sister of the Misses Katharine and Susanna Wood, who after the death of her father, helped care for Miss Willis, who made a host of friends in Ipava, who mourn her passing.

The body was brought to Ipava on Monday for burial.

Young Lady Dies

Word reached here of the death of Miss Sarah Willis, aged about 20 years, who died Saturday at the home of her half brother Bruce Willis in Galesburg. Her parents are dead.

Funeral services were held Monday. Interment in Ipava cemetery.

The young lady, we understand, has been in poor health practically all her life.
