Aged Ipava Resident Dies

Herman Weber, the oldest resident of Pleasant township, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laura Baumgartner, Ipava, Ill., on Monday, Oct. 7th at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, aged 85 years, 1 mo. and 23 days.

Mr. Weber, son of Martin and Anna Weber, was born in Germany, August 14, 1844. He was united in marriage to Susannah France and to this union were born 9 children, one of whom died in infancy. His wife and one son, Thomas M. Weber, preceded him in death. The following named children survive: Laura Baumgartner, Ipava; Mary Burgard, Canton; Emma Bucklew, Canton; Artha Shawgo, Ipava; A. F. Weber, Ipava; Nora Clanin, Deepwater, Mo.; and E. L. Weber, Lewistown. He also leaves surviving, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Beck, Astoria and two brothers, Henry Weber, Astoria and Nicholas Weber, Ipava.

Herman Weber, at the age of 16 came to the United States with his parents and located in Pleasant township, Fulton county, Ill. He engaged in farming until 1897, when he retired and moved to Ipava, where he has since resided. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services were held at the Woodland church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Interment in Woodland cemetery.
