VeteranAged Veteran Dies

Joseph Workman, veteran of the Civil war, died at his home in Bluff City Friday, aged 76 years and 26 days. Death was due to apoplexy. He had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Workman was born Oct. 9, 1844. In Feb. 1864 he enlisted and took part in many important battles. He was mustered out of service in July 1865.

The deceased was married three times. His first wife being Miss Lizzie Ray, second Miss Rilla Briney and third Rhoda Dixon, who survives him.

Mr. Workman had been a resident of Bluff City for several years. He was well known and highly respected and has a host of friends who regret his demise.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o’clock at the Bluff City church conducted by Rev. John Davis. Interment in the Bluff City cemetery.
