William Walraven

WOODLAND — William Walraven was born in Ohio, Jan. 4, 1849, and came to Illinois, with his parents when about four years old. They settled in this part of Fulton county, which was Mr. Walraven’s home except for two years spent in Mason county, until eight years ago when he removed to Canton, where he died, Sept. 24, 1910.

He was united in marriage, March 8, 1875 with Miss Emily Belle Stoar, who survives him, with five sons:—Frederick A. of Peoria, Thomas O. of Chillicothe, Carl E. of Havana, Addison and Benjamin H. of Canton. Deceased was a brother of John and James Walraven of this vicinity and Marion Walraven, of Peoria. Mr. Walraven was employed for several years in the plow shops of Canton, was a well known citizen highly regarded by a large circle of friends. The funeral was held at the home, conducted by Rev. J. H. Sowerby, of the Canton Baptist church and interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
