Leonard Vaughn

Leonard R. Vaughn, 75, of Lewistown died at 1:53 p.m. Oct. 14, 2023, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 11, 1948, in Centralia, Ill., a son of Alvin and Martha Decker Vaughn. He married Roberta Rowley on May 1, 1972, in Canton. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2006, in Canton.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Barb Schwartz.

Surviving is his fiance, Laura Howell; his children, Timothy (and Vera) Vaughn of Paris, Robert (and Dawn) Vaughn of Astoria, Jason (and Brittany) Vaughn and Misty Vaughn, both of Lewistown, and Christine (and Floyd) Deushane of Cuba; two brothers, Darrel Vaughn of Creve Coeur and David Vaughn of Saint David; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He worked and retired from Pschirrer Asphalt Company in Canton, as an operator, after many years of service. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #649 in Peoria. He served his country in the United States Army.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton. Inurnment will take place in Apple Cemetery in rural Lewistown at a later date.
