He was born March 29, 1948, in Denver, Colo., a son of Joe and Shirly Nickeson Valentine. He married Sandra Mayes on March 12, 1971. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Valentine of Springfield; one son, James (and Katie) Valentine of Springfield; two brothers, Ed Valentine of Taylorville and Tom Valentine of Springfield; two sisters, Carol (and John) Olah of Auburn and Mary Lou Valentine-Beard (and significant other, Ron) of Bellevue; and two grandchildren.
He was a member of Beardstown Elks #1007, Beardstown VFW Post #1239, Rushville Pool League, Rushville Moose Lodge #506 and Alliance Martial Arts.
Cremation has been accorded. Private inurnment will be held at Palm Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beardstown Elks Lodge at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Schuyler Humane Society.
