Carl Vancil

Carl VancilCarl E. Vancil, 72, of Rushville died at 10:19 p.m. April 6, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Rushville, a son of Wayne and Gladys Goodwin Vancil. He married Pauletta Hunter on July 8, 1962, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Carlette (and David) Wankel of Beardstown, Deena (and Bill) Blaine of Hannibal, Mo., and Susan (and Dale) Krohe of Rushville; one brother, John (and Jan) Vancil of Rushville; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A 1960 graduate of Rushville High School, he attended Greenville College. He was a lifelong farmer in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County. He also was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years retiring in 2007.

He was a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church, where he served on the board and taught Sunday school. He was a leader for the Woodstock Winners 4-H Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at his church with Reverend Denny Mallory and Pastor Greg Fish officiating. Burial will follow in the Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
