Adra VancilAdra Bellomy Vancil, 102, of Rushville died at 7:40 a.m. Dec. 15, 2014, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.

She was born Oct. 14, 1912, in Brooklyn Township, Schuyler County, the daughter of James Arthur and Lizzie Hillyer Bellomy. She married Leo W. Vancil on Dec. 4, 1931, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1987.

She also was preceded in death by one son, James L. Vancil; and two great-grandsons, Justin Tipton and Cameron Tipton.

Surviving are three granddaughters, Nancy Vancil of Hillsboro, Ala., Carol (and Ernie) Tipton of Huntsville, Ala., and Leslie Vancil of Nashville, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren, James McFerrin, Meaghan McFerrin, Keenan Tipton and Brennan Tipton.

She graduated from Bowen High School where she was active in public speaking and library work. She and her husband farmed in Brown County for years. In 1959, they moved to Springfield and she worked as an accountant for State of Illinois, retiring in 1978.

She and Leo moved to Rushville in 1976 where she did volunteer work where needed.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta with Rev. Greg Fish officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
