She was born July 21, 1923, in Huntsville, a daughter of Lewis Olin and Wilda Ava Scott Horney. She married H. Carl Utter on April 20, 1946, in Colchester. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2000.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Bradley.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald Eugene (and Wanda) Utter of Colchester, Gary Keith (and Lorna) Utter of Monmouth and Darwin Lewis Utter of Rushville; one brother, Keith Horney of Alamo, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Frederick Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and a former member of the Household Science Club and Frederick Missionary Club.
Services were held Monday at her church with Brother Matt Haberman officiating. Burial was in the Messerer Cemetery near Frederick. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
