MILDRED A. (RAKESTRAW) USREY

Mildred Usrey

Mildred A. Usrey, 68, of Bushnell, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at her home.

She was born March 25, 1929, in Gadsden, Ala., a daughter of Julius Otto and Sarah Hicks Rakestraw. She married Cecil H. Usrey on Jan. 5, 1946, in Gadsden. He died Oct. 6, 1988. One sister, two daughters, Nettie and Tereatha, and one grandson also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her mother, Sarah McClendon of Gadsden; two sons, Grady and John, both of Cambridge; one daughter, Betty Usrey Cooper of Bushnell; one brother, Julius Rakestraw Jr. of Wisconsin; one sister, Gail Brown of Gadsden; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was a member of Macomb American Legion Auxiliary, Bushnell Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was an associate member of Vietnam Veterans of America. She was a member of Modern Woodmen of America and Bushnell Monday Night Card Club.

Services were held Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell with Rev. Curt Ayers officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery in Ipava.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program in Macomb.
