Marvin ThurmanMarvin DuWayne Thurman, 83, of Macomb died at 7:44 a.m. March 25, 2022, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in rural Abingdon, a son of James (J.T./Ted) and Phyllis Morse Thurman. He married Dorothy Parks on April 9, 1961, in Bushnell. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Delane (and David) McNeely of Rushville and Deanna (and Mark) Whitaker of Industry; one son, Darrin DuWayne (and Leann) Thurman of Rushville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Thurman and Monte Thurman.

He graduated from Cuba High School in 1957. He later served in the U. S. Army as a paratrooper. In 1983, he retired from farming and working at International Harvester in Canton. During this time period he also found his talent and love as a machinery jockey. After resettling in the Schuyler County area he purchased and established M & D Equipment, which he still operated.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Old Pharts.

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Bryce Ball officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
