Christopher ThompsonChristopher Wayne “Chris” Thompson, 43, of Peoria Heights, formerly of Rushville, died at 8:37 a.m. April 10, 2017, at OSF Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born Feb. 15, 1974, in Rushville, a son of Wayne and Patricia Sue “Trish” Walters Thompson. He married Carrie M. Ritchey on June 30, 2016, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Trish Thompson of Rushville; his father, Wayne Thompson of Chandler, Ariz.; one brother, Jeremy Thompson of Rushville; one sister, Megan Thompson of Rushville; and his maternal grandfather, Zane Morrell of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Delores A. Belville Jones; maternal grandfather, Fred Jones; and paternal grandmother, Marie E. Thompson Kessler.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1992. He attended Spoon River College from 1999-2001 where he earned certifications in computer applications and networking and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society, the President’s Honors List and the National Dean’s List. He also attended Bradley University from 2001-02.

He was a network security analyst employed by CIAN to service the U.S. Treasury Department. Prior to that he had years of experience with technology companies in the Peoria area. He achieved the elite designation of Certified Information Systems Security Professional in July 2016. He also held Microsoft Certifications across a range of areas including Enterprise Administration, Network Infrastructure, hardware and software.

Prior to attending college, he held a variety of jobs in the Rushville area and at one time owned his own DJ business.

Private family graveside services were held at the Camden West Cemetery with David Haney officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
