Donald Teaney

Donald TeaneyDonald Duane Teaney, 64, of Mount Sterling died at 6:06 a.m. June 13, 2016, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born March 14, 1952, in Jacksonville, a son of Vitalis and Clara Marie Breyer Teaney. He married Sheila Shelts on April 5, 1980, in Mount Sterling. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Cary Teaney of Mount Sterling; 13 brothers and sisters, Jo Ann (and Guy) Bouvet and Judy Teaney, both of Springfield, Jack Teaney (and fiancée Karen) of Jacksonville, Dick (and Dorothy) Teaney of Pittsfield, Bill Teaney of Marion, Iowa, Bob Teaney, Juanita Jarvis, Tom (and Jamette) Teaney, Rex (and Karen) Teaney, Ron (and Daisy) Teaney, John (and Marcella) Teaney and Sue McAdams, all of Winchester and Mary (and Jerry) Caldwell of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Yawn; and three brothers, Jim, Randy and Terry Teaney.

A 1971 graduate of Winchester High School, he attended Quincy Technical School. He first worked as a mechanic and also at Bartlow Brothers in Rushville. He later worked as a dispatcher for the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. He worked for the State of Illinois Highway Maintenance Department until retiring in 1995, due to ill health.

Services were held Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Stephen Bounds officiating. Burial was in the Brooklyn Cemetery.
