Lorena TomlinsonLorena C. Tomlinson, 94, of Rushville died at 6:35 p.m. April 17, 2016, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Brown County, the daughter of James Frederick and Beulah Olive Bowman Bedenbender. She married Albert Tomlinson on March 22, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1959.

She also was preceded in death by one great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Sherrod; and three brothers, Ralph Owen, Harold Eugene “Gene” and James Robert “Bob” Bedenbender.

Surviving are three children, Pat (and Terry) Layne of Manito, Gerald A. (and Sue) Tomlinson of Mount Sterling and Allen Tomlinson of Rushville; one brother, Louie (and Mary) Bedenbender of Rushville; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

She first worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, before working at Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown, until its closing in 1985.

She was a member of the United Methodist faith and the Schuyler American Legion Post #4 Auxiliary.

Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville.

Memorials may be made to the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rushville.
