Robert TeelRobert Ritchey Teel, 86, of Rushville died at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 24, 2013, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Rushville, a son of Charles H. and Lois C. Ritchey Teel. He married Ruth Jean Woodruff on July 8, 1950, in Springfield. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Catherine Jean Teel (and fiancé Dr. Richard Dietzen); one son, Richard Clarke (and Dawn) Teel of Rushville; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Teel; and one sister, Virginia Kaisor.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1944 and from University of Illinois in 1950 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II.

He operated and managed his farms, was a broker/owner of Illinois Valley Realty and Preferred Rentals, Inc.

He was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church. He also was a member of University of Illinois Farmhouse Fraternity; Rushville Chamber of Commerce; Rushville Flying Club; and past president of Schuyler Unit District #1 School Board. He was a beekeeper and also instrumental in the planning and development of Schuy-Rush Park and Lake.

Services were held Tuesday at Rushville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by a U.S. Army Honors Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
