Evelyn TaylorEvelyn May Carpenter Taylor, 83, of Lewistown died at 4 a.m. Jan. 1, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Bushnell, a daughter of Clyde E. and Mary J. Herchenroder Carpenter. She married Carl Taylor on March 11, 1948, in Macomb. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by one stepson, Kent Taylor; one grandson, Jeremiah Taylor; four brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Jack E. (and Svitlana) Taylor of Lewistown; one stepdaughter, Bonnie (and Junior) Schenck of Canton; one sister, Lois Smock of Canton; one granddaughter, Carla "Jeanie" Jacobus of Cuba, whom they raised; nine step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 10 years and a member of Ruth Circle and past officer. She also was a member and officer of Lewistown Saddle Club, Fulton County Farm Bureau and past member of Lewistown Senior Women's Club.

Services were held Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Deryck Sonaram officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.
