Marilyn ThomasMarilyn Kay Thomas, 72, of Rushville, died at 11:55 a.m. April 28, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born May 8, 1938, in Beardstown, a daughter of Harold and Kathryn Loring Ward. She married Wayne Thomas on Oct. 29, 1976, in Versailles. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Mike (and Jan) Moore of Rushville; two daughters, Cindy (and Roger) Childers of Rushville and Lisa (and Mike) Kennedy of Canton, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Stacee (and Raymond) Rohn of Mt. Sterling; four brothers, Gary (and Cindy) Ward of Beardstown, Jerry (and Janie) Ward and Tim (and Shiela) Ward of both of Rushville and Jim Ward of Quincy; one sister, Judy (and Bob) Greer of Rushville; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Hedy Ward; and one nephew, Dusty Ward.

She attended Rushville High School. She first worked on the assembly line at Mobile Chemical in Jacksonville. She was a homemaker for many years before working at K-Mart in Macomb and Wal-Mart in Beardstown, retiring in 2001.

She was a member of Women of the Moose #2137 in Rushville and Ladies Auxiliary of Gutherie Pierce VFW #1239 in Beardstown. She also was the co-park ranger at Two Sisters' Knob Campground.

Services were held Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Carl Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
